Application for all our preschools is done through Stockholm City's queue system. If you have questions regarding queue time, parental visits, and availability of places, feel free to contact the respective principal. All preschools adhere to the same rules regarding selection for placement: sibling priority and time in the queue. Stockholm City's contact center can be reached at 08-508 00 508.
Application to Engelska Skolan Norr and Engelska Skolan Novia is done by registering with each school's queue (via the website) and through Stockholm City's school choice system, which is open from January 15th to February 15th. Application to Tanto International School is done directly through the school's website.
Yes, if a child has attended one of our preschools, they have priority for Engelska Skolan Norr and Engelska Skolan Novia.
Yes, you can. You apply as usual through Stockholm City's queue system, but it's also good to contact your municipality and inform them of your preference. Municipalities have slightly different processing procedures and usually appreciate being informed well in advance.
Preschools organize individual tours by appointment with the respective principal. Our schools host Open Houses during the school choice period; please check each school's website for upcoming dates.
Parental cooperation is crucial for us. Apart from parent meetings and development talks, you have the opportunity to participate in the preschool/school parent council, where representatives from the groups/classes, together with the preschool/school, discuss current topics and collaborations.
In our preschools, each child's group is staffed with at least one English-speaking and one Swedish-speaking educator. Educators consistently adhere to the "one educator - one language" method, which helps children in their language development. At schools and after-school care, students meet both English-speaking and Swedish-speaking teachers.
Both our preschools and schools follow Stockholm City's guidelines for opening hours. Preschool opening hours are based on the care needs that families declare before each term. Changes in care needs are reported to the respective principal with at least 30 days' notice.
The fee is based on Stockholm City's maximum fee system, and you can easily calculate the fee on their website. For more information about fees, please refer to Stockholm City's website.
The waiting time is usually quite long, often more than 12 months. Vacancies at preschools are most common in August at the start of the school year for older children. Once you are in the queue, feel free to contact the respective facility for more information about the waiting time based on your queue position and desired start month.
Current information about waiting times is provided by each school.
Once you have accepted a place offer, you will be contacted by one of our educators. Typically, the introduction lasts for two weeks, starting with shorter visits where you, as a parent, are present. The time gradually increases, and often children can stay at the preschool alone by the end of the first week. We always prioritize the child's best interests, and there is flexibility to continue the introduction during the second week. During the discussion with the educator, you agree on the details of the introduction to make it as smooth as possible for your child.
If a child attends one of our preschools and continues to our schools, we arrange several introductory meetings before the summer so that the incoming schoolchildren can familiarize themselves with the new teachers, environment, and their new friends. These meetings take place during school hours. Children who attend our preschools and choose other schools are referred to that school's introduction routine. Introduction for children from other preschools is arranged through a meeting in May, where both parents and children are welcome to meet their teachers and receive useful information.
Our children and students have access to good and nutritious meals throughout their day at the preschool, school, and after-school care. In our preschools, we serve plant-based meals three days a week, and our meal pedagogy closely follows the updated recommendations from the Swedish Food Agency.
For us, physical and mental health and well-being are crucial. We work in various ways to ensure that our children and students feel good through daily physical activity, yoga, healthy learning environments, good and nutritious food, security, and a calm learning atmosphere. Additionally, add our projects related to the Global Goals and Green Flag, e.g., preschools' work with Movement Joy!
No, all children develop at their own pace!
